Head Deacon: Wayne Tash
Deacons are appointed to attend to the business of the church. Their appointment proves to be a great business in the area of church administration, since they relieve pastors, elders and other officers of duties that can be effectively performed by deacons.
“The time and strength of those who in the providence of God have been placed in leading positions of responsibility in the church should be spent in dealing with the weightier matters demanding special wisdom and largeness of heart. It is not in the order of God that such men should be appealed to for the adjustment of minor matters that others are well qualified to handle.”—AA 93
Head Deaconess: Sybil Samuel
Deaconesses were included in the official staff of the early Christian church. In Romans 16:1-2, Paul makes reference to Phoebe, he states: “I commend to you Phoebe our sister, who is a servant of the church [deaconess] in Cenchrea, that you may receive her in the Lord in a manner worthy of the saints, and assist her in whatever business she has need of you; for indeed she has been a helper of many and of myself also.”
