The Spirit of God is constantly seeking to draw the attention of men to the great love offering that was made on Calvary’s cross. Your generous and sacrificial offering to the New Dimension Church is your way of partnering with the Holy Spirit in His work of unfolding to the world the love of God, and to open to convicted souls the precious things of Scripture."

A Brief History of Tithing

Tithe is a term that means one-tenth of something, usually income or produce, that is given to a religious institution or authority. The practice of tithing has a long and varied history in different religions and cultures.

The earliest recorded example of tithing is found in the Bible when Abraham gave a tenth of his spoils of war to Melchizedek, the king, and priest of Salem (Genesis 14:20). Later, Jacob vowed to give a tenth of everything God gave him to God (Genesis 28:22). These instances suggest that tithing was a voluntary act of gratitude and devotion.

Tithing was also associated with festivals and celebrations. The Israelites were instructed to bring a tithe of their produce to the place where God chose to dwell and eat it there with joy and thanksgiving (Deuteronomy 12:5-7; Deuteronomy 14:22-27). This was meant to foster a sense of community and worship among God's people.

In the New Testament, Jesus affirmed the importance of tithing but also criticized those who were meticulous about it while neglecting justice, mercy, and faithfulness (Matthew 23:23; Luke 11:42). He taught that tithing should be done out of love for God and neighbor rather than out of legalism or self-righteousness (Matthew 22:37-40).
